Ont: Will the provincial government repeal Bill 148?

In September the Ontario Chamber Network called on the provincial government to repeal Bill 148 and its labour reforms.

The Mississauga Board of Trade stated that while it supports the minimum wage increase to $14 an hour the other reforms established by Bill 148 were ‘too much, too fast’ and have impeded on the Ontario business community’s ability to ‘maintain or grow a competitive workforce.’

In addition to this, Ontario Premier Doug Ford recently announced that the scheduled minimum wage increase from $14 to $15 on January 1 will no longer take place and no additional timetable for future increases has been released.

Accompass will continue to monitor the situation as it unfolds and inform our clients of any updates.
