NB Drug Plan under review – mandatory prescription drug coverage to be lifted

This week as part of a comprehensive review of the New Brunswick Drug Plan, Health Minister Victor Boudreau announced that New Brunswickers are no longer mandated to have prescription drug insurance.

The Plan was introduced this year to provide New Brunswickers with improved access to drug coverage, and initially came with a requirement for private group plans to offer minimum coverage standards to qualifying employees.

“This will be welcome news for plan sponsors with employees in New Brunswick,” Accompass Vice President Judy Buckley explained. “These employees will be reimbursed based on the current inforce plan design, and no changes will be necessary.”
